Planting in newly constructed raised bed, Hercules carrots from Hoss tools. Makes growing your own food easy with small raised bed or even container gardening. Just make sure and keep top of soil moist to get good germination.

  1. I had issues in the past getting carrots to germinate. I put a board over them this year after watering them in and had success! Thanks for the tip about tree in a raised bed.

  2. For fine seeds like carrots, I use a colander or Prospector's Classifier (A pan with screen on the bottom, available in many sizes of mesh) of an appropriate size, and put the seeds in and start shaking.
    Picture it like the Missus is sifting flour.
    Also, it's better to slightly overseed and then thin, than to underseed. The seeds are cheap.
