  1. I thing i would say, when you fit the diverter into the pipe from the gutter, the barrel will try to fill to level with it. So if you install it slightly below the top of the barrell nothing will ever leak out of the barrell. Im sure the thread on his barell can seal, but its imposible to leak regardless if its slightly below.

  2. I have a couple of questions. I am getting ready to install my system I bought the same barrels you have. #1 have you sealed of the screens on the top of the barrels. #2 How are you dealing with overfill with your system. I did not see of missed what you did with your set up. #3 Now that you have used the system for a while would you still mount the two barrels at different heights, #4 I am confused as to how you diverter will fill up and stop the flow to your barrel unless the top screens are closed off.

  3. I'd be curious to know what kind of diverter system you would use in the downspout if you had large oak and maple trees around the house. I'm sure that little hole would get clogged within minutes with all of the helicopters from the maple trees.

  4. Thank you so much for this tutorial! It’s so informative and detailed 🤩 One thing I’m wondering if I missed: did you secure your barrels to the building? We have kids and I need to secure our rain barrel so there’s no chance for it to tip onto a kiddo!

  5. How do you keep debris from clogs. I don’t see any trees around that drop leaves and seed pods like you n my situation?

  6. My roof got Shingles. Rain water drom shingles is okay to qater vegetable garden? I hear from friends that shingles has asphalt.. that gets mixed with water..

  7. Why are two connections between the two barrels necessary? Wouldn't the upper one be enough, just spilling over to the next, if it's full? Or the lower one, always pushing water over?

  8. Thank you for the video and explanation! Why are there 2 connection hoses between the 2 barrels? Can you just have 1 connection hose to direct water between two barrels? What is the benefit of 2 hoses?

  9. Thank you for contacting the office of Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs! This is a confirmation of receipt of your inquiry. Our office will review your message as soon as possible.

  10. Why not run the downspout directly into the barrel? What’s the point of leaving the rest of the downspout? You’ll lose some water that way too right?

  11. Great Videos BTW. Your ideas have been invaluable to my backyard gardening.
Quick Question: How do you prevent your rain barrels from freezing up during the cold winter months?
I'm in the process of installing mine, but worried about it freezing over.
Hope you see this question, as your video was created 2yrs ago

  12. Great video 1. My landlord installed a rain barrel in my yard and now I need to remove the hose from the barrel and empty it- could you tell me how to do that please ??
