You can plant low growing herbs, like cilantro, or leafy vegetables with high growing vegetables, like peas.

You can grow a couple of peas plants in 5 gallon containers with other herbs like cilantro and arugula. The leafy herbs or even lettuces are cut and grown low and the peas are grown up a single pole and take up the higher space. This is a good way to maximize space in a container garden
