There is a common practice that most of the phosphatic fertilizer is applied at the sowing time of the field crops. We have answered this question in the video that is it or why necessary to apply all phosphorus at the time of application? If it is applied in the form of DAP, which is not readily available then previous recommendation is OK. But in case of salt affected soils, wastage of DAP as basal application is not advised as such. Either its application should be splited or acidic fertilizers like Ultrasol 10:44 (Swat), Dapper 10:48 (FMC) or NPK 05:75:03 (NFC) should be applied during initial growth stage of vegetables, wheat, maize and most other crops preferably within a period of three weeks after planting. Acidic fertilizers are not only readily available but they improve the availability of DAP too.
