Just so you know, we thought we could get all of our spring bulbs planted in one go… but the rain has had other plans. Instead, we’ll share our container planting process first while we wait for the rain to stop. And then we’ll bring you along as we plant up our flower bed with the rest of the bulbs.

(UPDATE: The rain finally stopped and we planted those other bulbs here: https://youtu.be/uIyIawfI9l0 )

For this video, we’re taking you with us as we plant 2 new large containers with gorgeous tulips from @blomsterverdendanmark.

They actually named a tulip mix after Lars… we’re very excited about that. And we’ve decided to show them off in front of the house next spring.

You can see the mix on blomsterverden’s website here: https://blomsterverden.dk/products/lars-tulipanblanding?_pos=1&_psq=lars&_ss=e&_v=1.0

Join us as we ‘discuss’ 😂 how to arrange the bulbs and go over the easy steps we take to get these containers planted. (Bulb planting doens’t have to be complicated… watch and see what we mean.)

Don’t forget to subscribe and follow to see what’s growing in our garden.

  1. How lovely to have a Tulip named after you Lars. It is always interesting to see how other people plant their bulbs. I've only ever seen compost mixed in with grit and that's the way I've always done mine.. Your way looks a lot better using a deep layer of clay pebbles under the compost. I'm going to try that next year as I've already finished my planting for this year. Your garden is going to be even more stunning when your bulbs flower. I thought talking about the weather was just a thing we Brits do. Good to know we're not alone. Hope you both have a wonderful weekend. You are going to be busy!

  2. Hello from North Carolina! I stumbled across your videos a few months back & quickly feel in love with the planting style of your gardens. You guys have nailed the look I've desperately tried to achieve in my NC garden. It'll never happen here with our heat, humidity, drought & rock hard clay soil. I'm changing it up a bit this coming season. Trying for a cottagey/Mediterranean vibe. Fingers crossed! Lars & I struggle with the same addiction of collecting seeds & rooting! I find myself laughing out loud when y'all are fussing over the amount of seeds he wants to collect! Lars, you are my spirit animal! For Christmas this year, I am making gifts with packets of seeds from my garden. I'm decorating each packet with the dried flower the packet contains.
Enjoy your season of garden rest! Keep making videos! You have helped me so much in my garden.

  3. Your definitely not alone with talking about the weather. It is a constant topic here in South Australia, probably due to how dry it is. Love from South Australia 🇦🇺 ❤

  4. You will be very 🐝-sy, but it' will be stunning in the spring 🌷🌷🌷🤩🌷🌷🎊🌷🎉🌷✨

  5. Great video guys! Still waiting for a chance to plant my tulips as it's been so wet here. The question on my mind is who talks about the weather more – the Danish or the British?!!! That colour combination sounds so lovely and I am looking forward to seeing how your planting method turns out. Hope you are having a great weekend. Take care.

  6. I like to put lava rocks at the bottom of my containers for drainage.

  7. Thanks guys, some great tips there. We lost most of our bulbs through the wet weather last winter but all the tulips survived which was a surprise. We're waiting to plant ours still when we get a dry day to do it!
