You can create a 4×4 raised bed vegetable garden easily. The (2) 2x8x8 boards were $8 each. Home Depot cut them into 4 foot sections for free. I used (12) 4 inch deck screws. Borrow a drill if you don’t have one. I filled the bed with 6 bags of cheap $2 top soil. 1 bag of $3 composted manure. 1 cubic foot bag of peat moss or similar for about $6. I put in some old container soil and 6 handfuls of garden lime for calcium. Nothing fancy. I only fertilized where the plants went and I mulched the top. A bag of mulch is about $3.50. This bed will last for 10+ years and it will help you conserve resources.
