I’ve been gardening for quite a few years, but over the last 5 or 6 years, I’ve made quite a few changes in the way that I garden. I thought I would share some of the things that I do differently now, and why those changes helped make me a better gardener.
When I compare where I am now to where I was then, I can’t believe I wasted so many years being stuck in the same old gardening rut. I did very well, but now I’m doing much better and having more fun while I do it.

  1. I am so looking forward to watching your garden again this year!! Just moved and haven’t been able to start up a new garden yet.

  2. Thank for sharing your gardening tips. I notice in several videos that wood chips are so usual in a lot of garden in US. Here, it's commonly used for mixed border and flowered space but not for vegetable (it would be too expensive with a big gardening space, than we spread cutted grass very often to cover soil)…Do you need a lot of bags of wood chips each year if you do have to replace it ? is it delivered at home from containers ? have a nice day

  3. Good morning Jim I think it will be pretty hard to grow every pepper because there is over 1000 types but I belive in you, I know you can do it🌶.😀Good luck with your garden and enjoy your weekend👨‍🌾. I am growing a mango tree from seed and it should be a seedling by next week Saterday, I'll tell you if it grow because its my first time growing a mango tree from seed.🌱🌴I hope it will grow in the South African climate. 🌍🏜🏝🏞🏔

  4. Hi Jim, I haven't been around much but I wanted you to know you made me a better gardener. I always look forward to Saturday videos with coffee in hand. Keep up the great work!

  5. Yes ! I agree! Though growing plants from seeds takes a lot of patience the result is much more satisfying ♥️

  6. Is it expensive to install drip irrigation? I'm to the point where watering everything individually is so hard on this worn out old body and I can't take the heat like I use to.

  7. I was about to mention that in your last video, that u had an awesome drip irrigation system in place! 😊 🙂

  8. I am really enjoying your videos. I live in a cool area of Ontario, so I need to adjust the information a bit but I have learned interesting things. YouTube is a great place to learn new things.

  9. Grandpa would be so proud! But I think he would also admit that you may just be a better Gardener than him! I'll never ever forget his garden every year as I grew up. My favorite memories.

  10. Hi, if you watched BTE, Paul Gauchi only water the garden until the seedlings take off and then he stops. If you have mulch down, you need to water a lot less. With mulch, I cut my watering down to 4 times per growing season.

  11. You always have a fantastic garden. Love your videos and sense of adventure. Don't you have a hard time moving the wood chips so you can dig hole to plant tomatoes in,? I covered our backyard in wood chips from a tree service and they are 6-8 inches deep in many places and have become entrenched in the soil. I can't just move them. I have to dig through them and it is very difficult.i think it holds my plants back. My 100 tomato plants last year struggled and many died. Flavor was blah and production was poor.

  12. Jim, I am in western Illinois. What tomatoes do you find have the best flavor? I just found your channel and this is the 2nd video I have watched of yours. Subscribed!
