Was happy to see a fall video Asia, you have become one of my favorite YouTube gardeners because you are so” down to earth”. I got one of those benches for my Sept birthday, best gift ever. Keep up the good work, you are the “real deal”.
I start my artichoke by seeds and I have Autechre the first year and they go pretty big and they will come back next year
My beautiful homegrown fall vegetable starts were battered by leaf minor. 😥 WWAD… What Would Asia Do? I planted what could be salvaged (mostly bare stems with a hint of one tiny leaf) and hoped for the best. So, even though I think it is better to learn to grow from seed, I'm thankful I could buy some starts from a local nursery. Gardening is often a humbling experience.
I saw you on Exploring Alternatives and I just love what you are doing and had to come over and subscribe.
Asia, God bless you for speaking openly and frankly about gardening in general. I live in NY zone 5. Been gardening for over 50 years, majority from starts. The joy you receive from being in the garden is obvious. Thank you.
I would love to know more about the loofah, do you use it as medicine?
Leeks taste like a mild onion. They also don't cause your eyes to sting when you cut them.
Currently having a rest from gardening as this is my first year. I'm going to be planning for next year. The pots are doing well – chard, spinach, lots of herbs, fruit bushes and the wild garden bed is doing really well. Cheers from Manchester, England 👍🏿
Garden is looking great. You can use the whole plant of the JA sorrel. I use leaves for tea.
Hi Asia! Great to see you and your baby. Your garden is looking awesome. You have inspired me to plant more next fall, unfortunately I am not able to purchase starts in my area in the fall, but I'll do more root vegetables I guess. I planted a delicata squash when I heard you talk about how they tasted, unfortunately the temperature dropped when it had 4 fruit on it, I brought it in the house and put it under some grow lights, but it didn't survive.☹️ I can't wait for next season to try again. Anyway, you are absolutely right about the greens when the frost hits them; they are delicious! I pray you get an abundant fall harvest. All the best, Chris from Canada 💝
You are so right about buying starts. I have decided that next year that is the way to go. My local garden center has beautiful plants in the spring, and lots of variety. My garden is not that large so it will be affordable. I am ready to be done with the dust, dirt, moisture, gnats and having my dining room table full of seed trays, heat mats and grow lights for 2 months every spring. I’ve started things from seeds for many years but next year I will shop!✋🏻
Hi there! When the plants die in winter, will they come back in fall? Do you pull up the root or use the plant as soil fertilizer/cover? Thanks for the help!
✋
I found your bench at a thrift store and at first wondered what it was. Now I use it for everything sitting or bending. Your garden is amazing and I too am holding on to peas and bell peppers while I prepare the soil in some of my other beds. You are an inspiration!!
Totally off you current topic I found a piece that you did for another channel explaining how you began and some of your philosophies and practices. Kudos to you Asia: https://youtu.be/K48WGZYWsxc?si=sgoYeFms17s9KovU
I started being serious about starting my own seedlings this year. I always planted a couple in my own but this year I only purchased okra and some Patty pan squashes. The rest was from seed. I purchased what didn’t germinate.
I got one of those kneelers last Christmas.I absolutely love it kneeler.
I've been focusing on growing from seed partially because I'm cheap. Also, because I can get more varieties buy using seeds. However, Life got in the way for my fall garden so most of my garden is from starts. As long as I'm growing I'm happy!
WHO cares how you start… Just grow some food!
Leeks are an onion taste, especially cooked in potatoes soup
Hey Aisha. Love your channel! How do you preserve broccoli? Do you freeze them?
P.S. leeks taste like onions
