I fully bubble wrapped my greenhouse today. I’m excited to see how much better it handles the freezing Temps tonight.

You probably took your greenhouse from R1 to R1.05. I wish you the best of luck though!

Let me know how it goes…. I’m struggling with this as well!

Looks like a fun bubbly time! Deep freeze or light freeze? Add some temp probes and see what outdoor ambient v indoor temps are. Good luck.

  4. Looks nice! What kind of bubble wrap did you use?

Bubble wrap, the kind you buy at Home Depot or Walmart for shipping stuff, isn’t going to do as well as you hope. The plastic is way too thin, and it will break down in UV light. I looked into this myself. However, you are very close to a solution that is almost dead-on, which is using the kind of “bubble wrap” that is meant for pools to warm them up and retain their heat! It is thicker plastic, and unlike bubble wrap that is one thin layer of plastic with bubbles on it, the kind meant for pools is meant for UV exposure and passing it through, has one layer of thicker plastic, bubbles, then another layer of thicker plastic on top, meaning there is a much better insulating air gap.

It is more expensive, but as anyone who has a pool knows, it does actually help heat up the pool water faster than without, and retains that heat for longer than without.
