When growing lettuce or other greens in a raised bed, oftentimes we look at the back of a seed packet and simply follow the instructions. While this isn’t BAD, it could be more efficient.

If you’re willing to experiment, this “mini row” method for growing greens can drastically increase the amount of greens you harvest from the exact same bed. We make use of an intensive planting style that has a few benefits:

1. Crowds out weeds
2. Decreases need to water
3. Protects soil from solarization
4. Increases yield!

If you use the cut and come again method (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkvNU6dG0pA) you can harvest each row 4-5 times before the quality of the greens degrade enough that you have to replant.
