In the heart of London, in the global business district around St Paul’s, dedicated gardeners from the City of London Corporation tend more than 200 micro-parks in just one Square Mile. Many of this Square Mile’s 400,000 daily workers enjoy the flora and fauna through the seasons. Here five of these ‘Secret Gardens’ are introduced by the gardeners themselves.
The elected City of London Corporation also runs major open spaces outside the Square Mile, including Hampstead Heath, seven commons around London, Burnham Beeches & Stoke Common and Epping Forest – for everyone in the South East to enjoy free of charge. See www.cityoflondon.gov.uk
