Dude, Great video!!, I'm wanting to do a market garden myself, been a gardener for 4 years now, I'm here in Colorado and have 5 acres that haven't been touched in 25 years. I'm surrounded by farmers, corn, beans, And alpha, anyway I could go on and on, you should do a series, cover The tools Needed, then marketing, , and so on.

I just went through your video a second time. You're right that bootstappers will suggest much lower and it's along the lines of 3-5k, but even … Curtis Price (I think) suggests something around 19-30k and he's probably one of the more famous bootstrapper types from a few years back. Every person I've researched that has an established farm setup suggests somewhere in 19-30k range. You, Josh Snow, Fortier(?), the Dutch Farmer, etc.
Just so anyone who checks out cat tunnels knows: Yes, they start out pretty cheap, but when you add in most of the things you are going to need, they'll hit 3k pretty easily for the 100 foot ones.
How much is your insurance a month?
I’m going to be an oddity in this discussion. We started our 1/4 market garden debt free with what we had in our hands. Instead of buying all my amendments and fertilizers, I make it all. Instead of fabric or plastic to cover the soil we use organic materials-literally whatever we find about 18 inches deep.
We purchased signs, shirts and cards after our first season was done.
We add, update and purchase what we need with cash.
I agree with everything you said about treating it like a business, just NOT the need to go into debt.
