**note**
The battery backup sometimes sells out on Amazon. I apologize, I do not have a replacement alternative to recommend if that happens.

One of the easiest (and coolest) DIY pondless water feature yet. Make this invisible fountain bubbler in an afternoon and enjoy it for years to come! This particular pondless water feature project should cost you a total of $75 – $100 depending on what materials you need to purchase. You may have some of these items at home, already! If you decide to go the solar route, this will cost closer to $200.
Steps to create this pondless fountain
1- Dig a hole to fit basin
2- Place basin in the hole
3- Assemble the pump
4- Cover pump with cloche or cheese cloth and anchor to bottom of basin
5- Place metal grate on top of basin level with the ground
6- Cover the grate with hardware cloth (screen)
7- Cut a trap door into the hardware cloth for servicing the pump
8- Make the pump easy to access in the future
9- Bury edges of screen with soil
10- Add rocks to the screen area above the basin
11- Fill your basin with water
12- Turn on & enjoy

Thanks, that is a super-clear and helpful video. You’ve given me lots of really useful info about how to do something similar in my garden. Also love your hostas!
I was looking for an easy to make fountain for my yard that's also dog proof. I found it!!! You're easy to follow instructions makes me even more excited to add this to my yard.
We just purchased a new home with a huge, blank slate yard, so I'm excited to see what other fabulous ideas you have. Thanks so much!
Cool!!!
What is the purpose of the mesh, since the grate does job fine
Tooooo much talking, so many explaination
Great piece of work
Thank you
Love it
Wow what ingenuity! It’s gorgeous! Thank you for sharing 🙏🏼
Good presentation
LOVE this project!! And I really appreciate your drawing. I like to do similar drawings for all my projects. BTW, if you wire your rebar together at the ends to make a flat triangle, it will be more stable under the platform and the single pieces won't slip out of place.
how did you make the water pump stay down?
The basin has a shipping cost of 391.00. I cannot find a water basin anywhere less that 300.00. Any ideas or links to get this basin she has.
I love this! Do you do anything or do you have any issues with mosquitos with the standing water? I know they seem to not easily have access, but do you use something like mosquito bits or anything in the water? Also, do you ever empty the basin or do any sort of cleaning / bleach for it?
Do birds use it?

THIS VIDEO SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!…………"cheers!"
I’m always a scaredy-cat worry wart … when looking these up there’s a lot of warnings about electric shock.
I’ve got everything started and bought a pump from harbor freight. Just want my kids to be safe
Should I be nervous?
How long to you generally run the pump and how long till you have to refill the tub? We made one with a 20 gallon tub and it is empty after running it for a couple of hours. It is hot and extremely dry where I live. Could be evaporation.
Do you ever have to empty the water and clean out the reservoir?
Your diagram was exactly what I needed, thank you. I'm going to make one of these in a large planter in my tiny, paved garden.
Do you have to keep refilling the water? Will the motor burn out if there's no water?
Thanks! Started out with one like your and it turned out beautiful and a little bigger. But awesome and easy!
Fantastic video
Will build a fountain myself
Do I need the plastic tubing if I buy the kit?
Thanks! We went with a 12volt solar pump. Nice vid.
How do you fill the water?
Love this!
I used a lingerie bag to hold my pump. Seems to be working well. It's been in ground for a year and half now. I used your method to build my pond less fountains, but I have mine going up into a container and flows over the container edge back into the container in ground.
I love that!
Am in the process of making this today. Still have some digging and rigging to do, but I think it will turn out very nice, thanks to you. You are so creative and come across as a kind and intelligent soul. Much love from South Carolina.
Hiya I love your water feature could you change the top so it can come out like it's bubbling out the rocks?
4:28 pm, 4/16/23. My garden often floods because the drainage is so poor. Would it be ok to sink the “basin” with the top of it about 4” above ground level so rain runoff won’t overflow into it? Also, is it necessary to use such a deep basin as your drawing depicts? Would a round washtub type basin that’s about 14” deep be okay? Thank you for your help.
Nice white board diagram and yes it turned out great!
Du you replenish the water? Living in the desert, I am thinking our climate will cause evaporation quickly.
it looks to unnatural. In my opinion not very good but i guess most people would be impress when they have no clue what to do in the first place or how it should look
Thank you for sharing this. I’m thinking of wanting to do something like this for a double aviary in my house and because that Avery has may be about a foot underneath I was thinking of maybe putting the bucket or container underneath and piping it into the aviary where I would have like a waterfall effect with a collection at the bottom piped back into the container underneath so the water can go around. I’d like to do this while at the same time using the water supply to titrate some of the water on a timer to water plants that have berry bushes that are beneficial for a parrot so I can create more of a natural Ecosystem for my parrot.
Wondering if you can share any tips for that idea specific for birds and inside. The aviary will be 64” x 32” wide and, about 70” tall
Hi Amy, your video was so easy to follow, and I was hooked from the start and couldn't stop watching! You made listening to you and following the steps so inspiring. Thank you very much for sharing this most innovative idea for creating a simple diy fountain. The end result is amazing!
Excellent instructional video for us beginners. Thank you for doing this and providing the ordering information. ❤
A couple of questions:
1) Do these type of fountains provide a place for mosquitos to breed? if not why as I assume they can get through the rocks and screening to lay eggs in the water underground.
2) Do you leave the fountain on 24 hours a day or set up a timer to turn on and off?
3) How would you go about hard wiring the fountain into your houses electrical system?
4) How much water do you add and how often?
Thanks for putting together this video.
Great job 👍
