So this pere stock under Guru x op scion (stab graft) snapped in the wind. Yes, I had added a stake over a month ago, and no, I had not tied it to the stake yet 🤦‍♂️

How should I proceed? As you can see from the picture, the scion had already popped some roots. I’m thinking of cutting off the jagged part of the pere (and removing the leaves), letting it heal for a day or two, then putting the whole thing under soil. Would you recommend against that? TIA!

Pere roots pretty quickly, and the scion has roots forming already, so you just need to ask yourself if you want to keep it growing as a graft, or degraft it. There’s no wrong answer

I would just slice as much of the pere off as you can and then toss him in soil. Or you can leave it on but I’d want to wait till I saw some roots on the pere then..

Two off the leaves and plant it. A few days in water would super charge the roots but I’d likely just pot it up with the scion a few inches into the soil.

Replant but bury it up to where your pinky is in the photo.

Just cut as much pere off as you can without going into the truck. It’s already got roots so it’ll be fine.
