This is a quick and easy way to make more papyrus! Papyrus has adapted to growing near bodies of water and doing so they have come up with a great trick to make more of themselves. If the tops of the grass stalks were to break off in the water the top part, the ‘bracts would begin to develop roots and stalks. How cool! So I came up with a quick video to show you. Enjoy!
Here is the link where I found the article in how to propagate papyrus

Mines not rooting… hmmm… was thinking it might be the time of year… although I did it slightly different than you based on ways others showed and talked about how easy it is … maybe it’s the variety I took cuttings from… everyone always says stuff is easy … maybe I’m jinxed lol
wwwo verry nice ❤❤❤❤👌👌👌👌
I am doing it now !
I am doing this but I don't want to repot in soil I want to repot in a pond. Can I do this?
this method works!! hey, what variety is that? it's huge! also, do you know how to grow papyrus from seeds without any special equipment? thanks
WOW! and WOW! Just got back into my #3 hobby since I retired and you are my "deja vu" for today. Quick joke: "Old musicians don't die…they just smell that way!" 79 and still giggin'! A nice groupie at that time gave me a small (8") papyrus start and she showed me how to propagate exactly you, except mine were 'starts', but I used your/her technique with smaller pups…started selling them 2 or 3 bucks apiece and the local gardeners at-that-time loved 'em. Gonna' assume that this will work with, possibly more of this cyperus variety. Thanks again!
Thank you for your video! You only need about an inch or two of the “leaves” for successful propagation. I give min what you would consider a crew cut and can get many more stems in my glass jars.
HOORAY! I learned this technique over 30 years ago and was "bootlegging the offspring out of a studio (?) apt. in Independence, Kansas until it got too crazy! Somewhere in the state of Kansas, my children live! Went to my faithful garden center yesterday and purchased 3-ptitful babies which are now comfortabley in my kiddie pool garden pool lettuce garden and off we go again! Great 2-torial with no yaketty-yak!
Don't bother cutting the head off. Just bent the stem in half so that the head comes into contact with the water below and forget about it. Mine have been in a half barrel for 10 plus years and are 8 feet tall.
Nice intro to the papyrus reed.
Are they good for zone 5
Can I just grow this plant in water?
❤
After cutting the head off a papyrus plant in order to propagate, does the ‘in-ground’ mother plant grow its own new leaves where it stands?
Basil is unbelievably easy to propagate in water such that you have fresh basil forever!
What kind of soil?
What zone are you in? It won't get too cold in your garage? Not too dark? I'm thinking if you can grow them out in your garage over winter, I could probably grow them as house plants in my dining room. I'm in zone 6b in WV.

Wow! Totally random but I dig the clock!! Where did you find that? Also, thanks for the tip! I just recently bought 2 of these plants because they were on sale and now need to know how to propagate them! ❤
is it better or worse to have a longer stem when you cut?
