Out to the garden today to get a few more veg into the kitchen for the week and I show you a fermenting experiment with radishes. Some of the radishes that grow in the garden are spicier than others and I find I don’t often harvest them in preference for the milder ones. In todays kraut style ferment I’m hoping to harness the spiciness of these radishes and combine them with chillies, cabbage and carrots to make a spicy kraut condiment. Hopefully I’ll change my feelings towards these under loved fast growing crops.

I’ve started a buymeacoffee page – it should be renamed buymeaplant page as I hope to use funds raised here to diversify my trees and shrubs in the food forest. If you’d like to support me – link is below!! Thank you!

I use a Japanese Sickle ( it’s called a long grass sickle ) in my garden – below is a link to the website where I bought this. The link will give you $5 off your purchase and I will receive 500 points (not sure what that means to me at this stage but some sort of loyalty program!!)

to make the beetroot chips do you do anything to the vegetable at all before dehydrating…
🎉
To keep the slugs at bay, could you try crush up mussel shells etc, and place around the plants, as the slugs may not like the sharp edges.
Love your cold frames Linda, so easy for seed starting 🌱I’ve struggled with slugs eating my cabbage and celery😡 But I just make sure I wash everything thoroughly xx Cathi xx 😘
Looks delicious and very healthy!!
So clever Linda it's a lovely looking sauerkraut I'll definitely be trying similar see what's growing at the time. So you start your cabbage off now? Is that where I'm going wrong? The seed packet always says winter so I plant early winter and they are barely ready this time of year. Thanks for any advice.
Hi, looking good😁.
Have a great day
Sauerkraut looks great. Going to be trying different types of radish in the garden this year. =-) Take care =-)
