  1. I'm so glad you took a break! There are so many things slamming into us every day, snd a human being can only handle so much before breaking. You did yourself a favor, and it shows you trust God, because you didn't stay home so you could control everything. That's so hard sometimes. I hope you are now energized to get back at it!❤

  2. So glad you got the chance for a little R&R! It's always so refreshing to see someone actually living sustainably – It gives us ideas and propels us forward in our own endeavors. The weather is finally starting to break here, giving way to cool mornings. This is another very busy time for me, full of Fall seed starting and preparing the garden for Fall crops. ❤

  3. I used to fish when I lived 30 years in Florida and yes especially fresh caught and cleaned fish cut top off milk jugs fill with water place fish in and VOILA’!Tastes just like it came out of the water fresh. Ziplocks work too.🌻🎬
You would need to hide the those pickled eggs! 😘
Oh yes, my grandparents were snow birds from Missouri for about twenty something years they spent every winter in Okeechobee They fished , that is who told me about freezing the fish in water.

  4. Kali merra agapi mou. Oh my word, a wrist brace? How did that happen? I talk to myself, outloud, through everything I do so I don't injure myself. I get a lot of sidelong glances. Be well & take bites you can manage.💜💪💥🌎♎⛵🇺🇸

  5. Do you think it's possible to be self sufficient on a small scale? Does it have to be big? I think I could do with perhaps one male rabbit and three females and that would be a handful! LOL I've never eaten a pickled egg in my life, unless you count the potato salad that I put pickles and eggs in. So glad your knee is on the mend!

  6. I live in SE Wisconsin and I've had those walking onions for over 25 years. They spread every year and YES they're indestructible. Congratulations.
I do that with my herbs for decades.
What a blessing to find that man and his wife! Great source of information ❤

  7. Kaye, so glad you were able to get away and take some time off. You absolutely look so refreshed and beautiful. I bought a watermelon this week that came from Riddleton Tennessee from my local Kroger. I thought of you when buying it,because you said you had some big farmers close to you. Thanks for the paper bag tip on drying herbs. I have some beautiful variegated oregano that smells so good and I am definitely going to try this. Thanks for another great video. God Bless You!

  8. WOW,he was a wealth of good, common sense, everyday information.Things you can do now.Or think about how to get in place for the future..
Packing the meat in water! That is great!
    Glad your knee is healing.
    God Bless
    Donna

  9. Always interesting to hear about hardworking folks who are “doing it”!!! You are doing so much toward being self-sufficient & being able to get help (since you are on your own) is a blessing but you are SO hardworking yourself! So glad your knee is better! Continue to be cautious as you recover. You are a very impressive & inspirational for many. I do what I can; when I can, in my tiny gardens. Enjoyed this! JClaire💕God Bless!!!

  10. Good day,
I do purchase canned food whether its beets, eggs or pickles from the lady auxiliary club at a church back in NC. The church is very active in the local community there. Awesome congregation, most are distant 7th to 10th cousins. When we go home to visit I will pick up my purchased items from my family member. Awesome way to help the community, church and have fresh canned food for the pantry. They do not use any chemicals on growing.
My bff's husband does hunting for wild boar because the population is out of hand in NC. They process the boars at home. Best meat I've tasted. I would recommend checking your wild boar population and encourage helping to control them.
Thank you for this information. You was definitely pass due for a mini-vacation. Have a Blessed Day.

  11. Great haul Kaye! I prefer the sun sugar cherry tomatoes. They are so good. My nursery guy told me that "they" not the nursery are discontinuing them!!!!!!! But he told me…don't worry, he has enough seeds for two years. What a shame. "They" are getting rid of all the good stuff.

  12. I build my own soil also. I believe what you buy in the store is humanure!!!!! I watched something one time where these companies go to the sanitation sites and collect the "soil." Then sell it commercially. I use my own chicken manure and the coop cleanings of straw and shavings. If there comes a time that we can't get shavings…..leaves.

  13. Sorry about yet another comment but homesteaders GET A HAND PUMP for your well!!!!!! If you don't have a well have a shallow one dug.
