  1. Thanks Ivan, great update. Will you be putting the carrots outside over winter, once they have germinated. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Thanks for the info Ivan, Defo going to be filling my long deep flower pots with carrots now. Did have have some in the garden under a netted cage but bloody slugs ravaged them so there is only about 5 left lol. 👍

  3. Thanks for that was wondering what to sow next, How are the previous container of carrots doing i think you planted them at the beginning of august using the same method but in a smaller plastic container but you spaced the carrot seeds out using seed cells as a guide I have done the same but cannot see any carrots forming plenty of above ground growth thanks

  4. I'm glad you said Parsnips are cold hardy. I've never had them germinate but always have tried them in the spring. I'll plant some to see if they do anything in the winter. My carrots are already planted for winter harvest.

  5. Hi Ivan. Thanks for doing this video and for the info. Brilliant. I will try a few varieties as suggested to see how they compare. That trough is going to produce a fantastic amount of carrots all being well although I don't think you will be moving it far? All the best. Trevor.

  6. Thanks Ivan, I've got some Danvers Half Long carrots growing in containers that I sowed weeks ago and look like they're doing well and I totally ignored the sowing dates on the packet seeing as our weather totally ignores the sowing dates, lol. Take care and all the best. Stevie

  7. I had absolutely no idea you can sow carrots at this time of year!! I have only been gardening since 2019 and always followed the packet advice. Oh how wrong I was!! Since watching your channel Ivan I have learnt so much I may even carry on sowing and growing all through winter. Where as in the past I have emptied by beds and covered them ready for spring.

I am really looking forward to winter now haha 😀

  8. i used your method of sowing carrots in containers using a template, old compost, sieving and fertiliser, and have had fantastic germination rates compared to the past so ty for that! will always do it that way in future. love the vids, keep them coming! <3

  9. Morning Ivan
What is your view on using old seeds I've got some carrot seed about a year old shall I give it a go or not bother

  10. I need to get outside and sow some carrots!

Are there any other veg seeds that can be sown now for over wintering in the greenhouse?

  11. Thanks Ivan great informative comment for the average gardener as usual. Personally I’m going for Chatenay as I’ve found them to be a bomb proof variety in containers . Some can get quite large in girth too if not length and the taste is superb. Donald , Edinburgh

  12. I have some carrots growing in the garden but I am definitely going to try this. I bet it gives nice clean salad carrots. I love your water sprayer- such a lovely fine mist. perfect for watering little seeds/seedlings. May I ask what make it is please? Cheers Ivan. Thank you for another great video 😃
