  2. Hi Kim! The heat wave has finally broken here in Sylacauga Alabama, and seasonable temperatures have returned with low to mid 80s. Today I pulled my pole bean vines from my 8ft long tunnel trellis, and sowed seeds for Danvers carrots. What a mess, that was! Five of six comfrey root cuttings have sprouted with new growth. I am waiting for one more to sprout before up-potting. A volunteer Super Sweet 100 cherry tomato plant is flowering and starting to set fruit, so it is time to retire my Black Cherry tomato plant. One more harvest, and it is gone. I collected thousands of basil sees this week, removed my Persian Basil, and cut back my Italian Large Leaf and sweet basil. I'm letting my Cinnamon basil continue to flower for the pollinators. This past weekend, I sowed seeds for more Late Nagasaki Cabbage, Hilton Cabbage, my winter tomato experiment (Early Girl Bush, and Tiny Tim), and golden beets. Yesterday was my first attempt at pressure canning. I canned three batches of nine jars of beans. I lost three jars in the first batch from siphoning—lesson learned, I vented pressure too fast. The second and third batches turned out perfect! I still have enough beans for at least 24 jars in my freezer. I have about 30 pounds of assorted summer squash, 30 pounds of assorted greens, 20 pounds of cored and diced peppers, 46 jars of tomatoes, 8 jars of sweet pickles, and 4 jars of jelly. I need to make 12 more jars of jelly soon. Peach? Wednesday I will purchase Elephant Garlic, and grocery store mystery garlic for planting this month. If you like science fiction, one of my short stories, The Oracle, makes its debut appearance in 13 days in SavagePlanets magazine. It is free online. http://www.savageplanets.com Be sure to check it out! Its owner is Dr. Keith Raymond MD.

  4. What should i do with my in ground pepper plants? Should I prune, or just leave them alone. I'm in zone 10a

  5. Appearance Production and Pests. AAP. I still have production and the appearance after cleaning out the dead leaves isn't terrible so I haven't torn out any of my tomatoes, peppers or eggplants or basil. I HAVE torn out my cucumbers which were Suyo Longs mostly which were GREAT during the summer. They required very little maintenance, didn't mind the boiling temperatures, didn't need to be pollinated and produced almost 2 fruits per plants per day or every other day during the summer. They were the best producers of cucumbers I have experienced here in hot humid SC 8A. They were even drought tolerant to a degree – very low maintenance!

  6. I missed the live today but thankfully I can watch the replay😁……. As far as me if the plants aren’t producing then I can go ahead and pull it but if still producing then I can’t bring myself to pull it even if I know it’s not going to mature before frost will get it 🤷🏼‍♀️ never know if it will or won’t…….#replay ❤️
