Once your raised bed is set up you need good quality soil that retains moisture and nutrients to fill up your raised beds And Your local garden center is loaded with confusing names and many different colored bags of soil which makes it very difficult for you to choose the right material for your raised beds The raised bed mix we used did appear to be good at first While we were filling up our new raised beds However in just a few days into planting and harvesting nutrition deficiencies showed up Note that the plants were being fed nutrients However their ability to uptake those nutrients was diminished due to the lack of good quality organic matter in the soil
