My mom told me I could plant them so I did I’m so confused They all look like onions I can peel away layers like onions and smell like garlic a little bit with a little bit of onion smell to them. Do I keep peeling away the layers Will there be something that resembles garlic somewhere?

sometimes when you plant garlic at the wrong time of year, it will not split and form multiple cloves. That is why it is usually planted in late fall, the cold weather causes it to grow additional lobes..

  2. This garlic is for those insane recipes that have the gall to call for only 1 clove.

I’m pretty sure that is just an onion. What did it look like when you planted it? The way it is coming out of the soil makes me certain it’s an onion, garlic grows beneath the soil and you don’t really see it until you pull it up

    That’s definitely an onion.

Most likely just a case of mistaken identity during the planting phase.

“Wet Garlic” I think it’s referred to as. Just not left to grow for long enough.

well before the ‘this is what i planted’ link i was gonna say it looks like you mighta planted onion sets thinking they were garlic.

The green bit in your last pic is hollow. Onions have hollow ‘leaves’. Garlic has flat ‘leaves’. This is an onion.

Garlic paper doesn’t look like that, and that is very clearly an onion your holding. Even the texture of the bulb is wrong for garlic that hasn’t divided.

I had this happen to one plant one time. I ate it. It was not very flavorful garlic.

Could it be a hybrid of some sort? Your picture looks like you planted garlic, but the plant appears onion like.
    Mysterious

Definitely an onion , but cut the middle cross section and you’ll have onion rings

Oooo, you should replant the bulbs and see what you get come July.
