The gas company destroyed a shrub lining our driveway. They will replace it but I need the name. I’ve had difficulty finding the exact variety with Google. I believe it is a boxwood but there are several types.

Can anyone tell me the precise name of this plant?

Boxwood, just pick one at the nursery with the same coloring, don’t let them pick it out.

Zooming in on the edge of the leaves on the 4th photo, it looks like the leaves are scalloped and not completely smooth. I think of this more like a soft touch holly than a boxwood.

Second would be the dark color of green in those leaves. They are darker and shinier than most of the boxwood varieties I am familiar with.

I would say they are a Japanese Boxwood. I have several in my backyard that are near identical.

Holly, not Boxwood. I have a lot of ’em. You can tell it’s not a Boxwood due to the scalloped leaves, but even many professional have a hard time telling them apart at a distance.

If it smells like cat piss, it’s a boxwood.

What is Ilex crenata ‘Helleri’, Alex.

    Just a guess.

Dwarf yaupon holly (Ilex vomitoria). Looks like a 3 or 5 gallon size.
