I’ve had this bad boy for going on 4 years. I am not sure what kind of plant it is, and I’m honestly shocked it’s still alive (I am by no means a plant expert).
What can I do about the hanging vines? They look so sad. Should I cut them and start over? The top looks so fluffy and alive but these dangly bits don’t seem to be holding up well. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and if someone could ID it for me, that would be awesome too! 😊

It’s a pothos. Cut those off, they are not going to recover. Make sure you don’t leave the soil dry too long between watering in the future.
Cut them off. But you can propagate each individual vine section into new plants (cut between the nodes). You probably have 50 propogations right there!
Youve got 1. Multiple plants in that container. 2. Most definitely a huge rootball/start of root rot. 3. The possibility of a ton of plants.
I got a pothos from walmart (yes yours is a pothos, even looks like the same one from costa farms). It was not just 1 cutting/plant that was big, but 12 separate plants. You likely have a few in there, at least. You could spend up to 2 hours like I did, poking, proding, rinsing, and carefully pulling the roots apart until they were separate, (I’ll post pictures down of the first one I’ve done it to below as for some reason i cant here) or put it in a pot 1.5-2x as big. While up potting, you’ll still need to loosen the roots up or just straight up rip/cut them to spread them out better. The second option is the worse one.
You can do this, combined with what thisismyjokeaccount1 said, and make dozens of cuttings, AND have your original plants safely growing
It looks thirsty. If the hanging parts snap off when bent, they are healthy. If the hanging parts/stems are more bendy then the top parts and don’t snap, feel free to cut them off. Wouldn’t hurt to repot with coco coir or peat moss mixed into the soil – help it keep some moisture if you’re gonna keep it in the same pot. Upgrade to a clay or ceramic pot if you can.
Thank you everyone!! I will do my best to fix this baby up.
Haircut, then soak once a week and that’s it
I think it’s ok to keep leafless pothos vines but that’s just me… I’d say it needs water more frequently.
