Of all places, why there? It was pretty much buried. Most likely going to remove the arm next to it to give space.. or I could leave it and see what happens 🤔 the little pup on top started growing before the big arm on the right, but it stopped and all the energy went into the basal pup. Kind of don’t want to mess with whatever it’s got going on because it’s my fastest grower, besides my pachanoi, by far.

I know im being picky but one of these would have been more preferable for aesthetics and would leave more surface area exposed for photosynthesis further down the track but im grateful its giving me more pups none the less 😎
I’m fairly certain the location of the pup is due to the tilt of the cactus. If the plant is leaning, cacti will stabilize themselves by growing on the opposing side to create a more sturdy center of balance. I’m really interested in the science behind it, but I’m having trouble finding any literature on it
