The seed packet said “beefsteak” but they appear to be some type of cherry tomato??

Are they in the ground or in a pot? I have beefsteak tomatoes, too, and cos they’re in a pot, the fruits are tiny. My boyfriend’s mom has hers in the ground, and they grew to normal size!

The branch cluster sure looks like a cherry- the tomato seed that germinates is not necessarily the tomato seed you planted.

  3. Dissapointing but still yummy 🙂 my gma has two plants on her stairs and always pick a few before going to work

I was duped to this year too! Bought 10 tomato plants thinking only 1 was cherry tomatoes. Turned out 8 were and my jalapeños turned out to be scotch bonnets. Dang them all to heck! Been going to same greenhouse for over a decade I’ll give them a piece of my mind next season. Lol won’t change a thing/they could care less.

I bought a packet of supposed Beefsteak tomato seeds in 2022, grew a bunch of seedlings and planted the “best” ones but they didn’t produce well and the tomatoes were small and not shaped right. I thought I did something wrong. This year I plant the same seeds and randomly choose the best to plant, and 2 out of 4 plants are a mystery variety. Small, mushy and they suck.

    Tomatogate 2023 leftover from 2022.

I’m curious who the seed producer was. The Early Girls I planted from seed this year were very much not Early Girls. They all came out the same — a long, teardrop-shaped tomato I’ve never seen before. I’ve been wondering if they just mislabeled the seeds, or if they got cross-pollinated before they were packaged and didn’t turn out true to type.

Look like super sweets, I’d say definitely not beefsteak but still lovely tomatoes! Great job!!

This happened to me as well!!! Bought from Walmart this year, supposed to be beefsteak / rutgers and all look like this.

Those are clearly Hylian tomatoes (gorgeous!)
