Hey OP. I’m from NC 8a too, (Southeast NC). Pink Muhly Grass (Muhlenbergia capillaris) would fit this look. I think also Carolina Wiregrass (Aristida stricta) would also work, but that’s almost impossible to find in the trade for some reason given our Long Leaf Pine ecosystem. I’ve seen one place list it near Lumberton.

yes, I’m in coastal nc and i have that in my landscaping (on purpose). i haven’t had any issues.
