How long do you keep your plants before replacing them?

I previously had a Kratky setup for Okra and Peppers. The peppers were mostly manageable as they only grew around 1 foot. However the Okra plant grew up to 2-3 feet (see images). It got to the point where it consumed so much solution that I had to top up at least twice a week. Not to mention that it was so crowded that they started shading each other.

At what point do you decide to replace the plant? And how do you do it? I just let mine dry up (though not sure it is the best way to go with it)

Until I get bored and want a change up or the plant is negatively impacting those around it.

Sounds like both the plants aesthetics and function are bothering you. Easy decision it seems.

I compost personally, but only if the plants were healthy.
