Is this a ground cherry? None are ripe, fruit inside is small and green as of now. Utah

Physalis is a genus of approximately 75 to 90 flowering plants in the nightshade family, which are native to the Americas and Australasia. At least 46 species are endemic to Mexico. Cultivated and weedy species have been introduced worldwide.
    Common name: Ground cherry.

Yup. Or tomatillos. Honestly they’re best when the husk has dried like a dead leaf. I’m not sure if ground cherries and tomatillos are 100% the same but I’ve grown both and they both look alike and tasted about the same.

Open one of the husks and look inside. If it’s kinda small, shiny being held in place by one tiny stem at the top…I’ll bet it’s a tomatillo.👩🏼‍🌾🪴

  4. Doesn’t look like tomatillo or ground cherry. Is it a decorative physallis?
