Got a random cauliflower and potted it. Was advised it probably wouldn’t produce given the pot size so I took the gamble and put it in the ground. It’s still alive but I’m clueless when it comes to this specific plant. How’s it looking ? Should I just make use of the leaves and not expect any actual cauliflower out of it ?

  1. Some varieties of cauliflower produce as late as November, so it’s a bit soon to be giving up. It look quite healthy too.

On the other hand, I have had more cauliflower never produce anything than any other veg. It’s a tough call.

The second one is fine but the first I have never seen them like that it can be too much nitrogen in the soil are you give it ant type of fertiliser

It depends what zone you are in and what kind of weather you will have. I say it costs nothing to wait and observe

it is very possible this will still produce. Let it do its thing and see what happens. Many people start new cauliflower plants at the end of the summer and harvest in the fall. Being a cold weather crop It is easier to get a large cauliflower in the fall than the heat of the summer.

It ain’t over till it’s over, keep going until it dies or winter kills.

If it doesn’t produce, can you eat the leaves like other brassicas?

I just got a cauliflower head that was planted back in March so I would wait and see if I were you

Considering it’s competing for nutrients surrounded by all that grass….. might not 🤷‍♂️
