I just found out this was a thing yesterday watching YouTube, a dude planted wildflowers in his backyard, and then last night someone recommended this sub from the landscaping sub. I’m in West Virginia so it is a 4 season area! The backyard, I’m going to build a floating deck and garden in the rear, but we have several large dogs so we are going to keep that pretty much how It is now, I just need help on the empty sad front lawn!!. Thanks all!

My suggestion would be to start small, just pick little patches to transform. Try and get native stuff, visit your local nursery. Take a bunch of photos before and after.
The reasons to start small are…
– see what works
– you get better ideas of your needs the longer you live there so grass is blank slate and you don’t want to redo work if you change your mind
– it’s way easier to to a little than a lot and easier to maintain
The are directly in front of porch is in need of sunflowers IMO
