Hi, everyone. Writing for some advice because I’m incredibly disappointed in my landscaper at this point. We had a complete renovation of our backyard this spring with brand new sod and a sprinkler system put in. We asked our contractor for a landscaper they trust/recommend and we went with his recommendation. We waited a little over a month for the sod to grow and become established and the landscapers finally began to mow it. When they first mowed it there was a spot or two that looked like a a bit scalped but the areas were small and not noticeable, and the lawn otherwise looked fine. I excused it and figured it was just human error. Fast forward to the end of the summer and I noticed the gouges are coming more and more of a regular thing. The icing on the cake was yesterday, it was pouring rain, I was surprised to see they still came mowed, and the lawn just looks awful (see pictures).
I know nothing about lawn care or what is excusable but just wanted to gather some input advice. Should I outright fire them, try to work with them to resolve it, request compensation, or is this somehow normal ?
TIA!
(Also, I know I should have intervened earlier, but my husband and I work like crazy and have a lot going on family-wise, this was low on our priority list).

Hire a kid in the neighborhood. Most big mowing companies will do this with their big mowers. They mow in the rain or shortly after because they want the money.
Those guys can’t mow find a new company
Yes, agree that this company is not going a great job mowing. Also, looks like you might be watering a bit too much and may want to adjust your watering. Understand that they mowed in the rain, but grass looks damaged beyond just one cut. IMO obviously. Good luck, but go with your hunch.
The bald spots are common, either fungus or grubs ( grubs love fresh sod) and both can be treated. As for mowing in the rain or shortly after, all lawn maintenance do it, you are on their schedule and they don’t want their previous schedule screwed up. And your landscaper did not edge the beds. You are going to have grass invade them. Edge the beds and border with Hostas to keep the grass and weeds out.
the smaller/slower the mower/tractor the better.
