Hey sub 🙂
I’ve played around with Hydroponic for a while now, and built my own deep water culture system with an NFT on top.
The thanks have a combined water volume of around 400L.
I check the EC and PH values every 4-5 days and they stay pretty constant (ph 6, EC 1800ppm).

Water from the tanks is taken for the NFT part above and goes back to the tanks. I have a pump with a timer that makes water flow for 10m every hour, at the same time air pumps enrich the water with oxygen.
The DWC has floating rafts on it with holes for the net pot. I cover all the exposed parts with black MIL6 plastic to avoid algae formation.
The setup is in the cellar with temperature throughout the year between 12°C and 21°C. This prevents evaporation. A window is open at all times to prevent build up of humidity in the air.
Water is topped up once every two weeks coming from the dehumidifier in the laundry room, and from the tap for the rest. I stopped using distilled water as I did not see a real growth benefit.
I replace the whole water twice a year.
I am at the moment planning to only have greens and no fruits to make sure I have a one size fits all nutrient setup. Basilicum, Salad, Cale,
Growth for now is okay and I did not have the impression the plants are sick or anything, but at this point I would like a feedback from the community. What do you think? What could I improve or how could I expand this system? Any tips and tricks from your end?
Thank you in advance!!
