We called them hedge apples and sometimes our horses would eat them. They also deter bugs and raccoons if places around your home. I am positive humans don’t eat them

Put it in a bucket with some water. Then let it rot. The pour it out in a line. In 40 years that will be a fence.

We called these monkey brains as kids. No idea why but we had a lot of monkey brain fights!

Looks like an Osage orange. Edible but not palatable.
Osage orange. That tree produces very rot resistant, extremely dense, tough wood, that also burns very hot. It’s edible, but not very good.

In Indiana we call them hedgeapples. We don’t eat them.
osage orange. The wood makes great bows and tool handles the fruiting bodies just make for litter on the side of the road.
100% edible… if you’re a horse.
