Does anyone know what fruit is this and is it edible? I came across a tree with these fruits while at a park.

Looks like an Osage orange. Edible but not palatable.

In Indiana we call them hedgeapples. We don’t eat them.

osage orange. The wood makes great bows and tool handles the fruiting bodies just make for litter on the side of the road.

Hello from r/woodworking! Osage Orange wood is very beautiful and hard. If the tree ever falls, woodworkers will fall all over themselves to grab some.

My grandmother would put these in the basement to keep bugs away, can’t speak to any truth in that or not

We called them hedge apples and sometimes our horses would eat them. They also deter bugs and raccoons if places around your home. I am positive humans don’t eat them

Put it in a bucket with some water. Then let it rot. The pour it out in a line. In 40 years that will be a fence.

We called these monkey brains as kids. No idea why but we had a lot of monkey brain fights!

We called them money brains growing up. Would have battles with them like snowball fights.

These work great in the garage or basement to repel spiders.

They are great for outdoor Christmas or holiday planters. They hold their shape and colour a good long while.
