Hi! This is my first time asking around about trees.
We live in northern Illinois and bought a house 2 years ago, we have various large trees and are trying to care them the best that we can. I noticed this tree is getting “bald” on certain spots, I have noticed a fee other around the neighborhood completely without leafs/dead I guess, I’m worried this is the start of it for the tree, trees have been there for 20+ years and it looks like 1/3 was lost a few years ago (long log in the backyard + google street confirmed a 3rd tree).
Also would love to learn where to find arborists locally to get the best care and help with trees.
Any information would be really appreciated!

  1. WarmNights

Blue Spruce with needle cast and/or fungal canker by the looks of it. I’m also in northern and Illinois and this is quite common. Blue spruce are no longer recommended for planting east of the Mississippi.

Eastern White pine would be a nice evergreen to replace these with.

Call an arborist for a fungicide application if you want to save it
