Does this look like Canada Goldenrod (Solidago canadensi)? iNaturalist’s top two options are the previously mentioned and Tall Goldenrod (Solidago altissima) – neither look right to me. It’s a volunteer and I’ll pull it if I have to but I feel guilty because there are so many little insects utilizing it (which you can probably see in the picture). Located in Central NYS.

This definitely looks like a goldenrod so go ahead and keep it. It does not look like Canada goldenrod though. There was a chart someone posted here the other day of all types of goldenrods, perhaps the search function will bring it up for you.
Maybe Solidago rugosa (aka wrinkle leaved goldenrod, rough stemmed goldenrod, rough leaved goldenrod).
