Last year I grew a Sweet Chocolate Bell Heirloom from a Sandia Seed packet. I saved seeds from some of the fruit to grow again this year because I loved them. My plant started to fill with these really long, skinny peppers whereas last year they were truly bell shaped. They’re ripening with a brownish color so I’m wondering if this is a mutation or if I somehow swapped seeds with something? Any thoughts on an ID?

Did you have other peppers growing near these last year? They could have cross pollinated

These just look like poblanos to me. They will ripen to red and if you dry them you will have ancho chiles!

I got some “bonus seeds” with one of my orders this year called twister peppers. I’m growing some and they look really similar to those. They aren’t spicy at all and taste like a smoky bell pepper to me.

Idk if I’d call this mutation. Maybe hybridization? I am not a geneticist or scientist of any kind though.

    Very cool!

I remember I had some leafy greens that had a subtle heat to them because I planted them near peppers!
