The plant itself is doing pretty good, however when I wanted to change the water which it was standing in for a week, I found this white bubble on top. It moves as you move the plant and the surface seems rather fragile.

No clue but why was it standing in water for a week?

That’s interesting. The main stalk looks healthy as do the roots. Could be expelling some minerals from the water? There’s also an alarming (at least to me) amount of dark brown/black at the base there. Maybe spray it down with hydrogen peroxide and continue to monitor. Also consider using filtered water maybe?

Looks like a bacteria or mold blob to me. I get them on my props sometimes too. I would wipe it off and carry on, but microbes are hard to remove so it may come back. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that prop will fail either!

Is that jelly slime fungus, warlocks butter. I’m not entirely sure, it may just be substrate. Looking at the side, it appears there may be some yellowing l, which from my experience can indicate oncoming root rot. The rest looks good. I have no clue about the blob on top.

I’d remove the black material… though I’m really unsure.

Rinse it off and look for any soft black spots. Otherwise maybe it’s time to transition to perlite or moss unless you’re doing hydro.
