So I am looking to redo my landscaping by my front door but have no real clue what to do. My house faces North and parts of it get lots more sun than others (see the existing bushes how the ones in the back don’t grow). I don’t mind the Hostas but nothing else looks good. I am just lost on this stuff any help would be greatly appreciated.

Im sure you’ll get some great advice here, but my two cents- add some height in the center of this bed. Let the sub know what zone you’re in so they can recommend specific plants. Enjoy gardening!
I think I would put in a small raised deck or paver-patio – big enough for a bistro table and two chairs, and then plant some lavender and native grasses around it.
Forgot to add I am located just out side of Kansas City.
Depending on the amount of sunlight, Japanese maple

A nice weeping blue atlas cedar planted from the back right towards the center, some lower foreground plants (smaller boxwoods, a small thin ornamental grass or two), and than do some low growing flowers in the front.
Depends on what you want from this space. Like others said, I would add some height somewhere in there, maybe an hydrangea? Doesn’t need a ton of sun, and has beautiful flowers. Other than that I’m a sucker for native plants, you could try black eyed susans and butterfly milkweed where there’s more sun. Completely in the back, I fear not much will grow easily since there’s few sun and no rain. So either big rocks, a bench or decorations of some kind?
Good spot for a upright growing Japanese Maple. It can be a rabbit whole finding a specific one to your taste however.
I’m assuming the area doesn’t receive much sunlight so you could try putting in ferns and other low-light native shrubs. The hostas do well there because it’s low light. In the areas that receive the most sun I’d throw down some native wild flower seed to add some color and interest.
In addition to plants others will suggest, definitely some charming pathway lights at the border.

Some color would look nice here.
Think of layers maybe 3 one layer would be medium to tall plants or bushes in the back second layer medium flowers or plants then lastly small in front. You’ll use less material and get an overall even appearance from all angles.
Plunge pool
Hydrangea?
Hostas are perfect for this area. Not knowing your zone I’d place a miniature Japanese maple in the middle of the bed.
I’ve located your address. Nice house!
A nice little paved sitting area with a variety of potted flowers.
