Accidentally hit post before adding detail – sorry. The rest of our small garden is flourishing in this non stop cycle of rain/sun. The grass has never grown so quickly.
This corner however has gone yellow/brown and is dying fast, noticed across the last week. We have a dog, but he wees all over the garden and I’m certain it’s not due to him. The grass dying was one thing, but it seems to be spreading to the flower beds and now the 7ft tall semi-mature sycamore is also dying?!
The ground is not waterlogged, and potted plants in the same area are doing ok. Makes me think there is something in the ground causing it, or possibly even some sort of chemical from the neighbours garden? No idea at this point but hoping to stop it before the sambucus nigra starts to go! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Weird it’s almost a perfect rectangle as well. Could it be something your neighbour has sprayed on their side that’s leeched through the soil maybe?

Can you peek over the fence to see how your neighbours garden is doing?

I saw a much bigger version of this recently in another sub, and it was caused by the fact that the dying grass was growing where there used to be a driveway, so presumably the ground wasn’t in as good of condition as the rest of the garden.
Was there maybe something there historically? Maybe it was lifted up and some grass seeds were thrown on without proper preparation of the ground. However I don’t know if that would explain it if it previously was fine and this is new.

Jesus even the grass.
Weird smells? Weird temp fluctuation? Is it a heat trap? Is that grass soggy?
The grass dying off feels like it’s something in the soil in that part of the garden and nothing you’ve done.

I think if I were you, I’d try to flush the soil around the remaining plants with a hose, proper flood it. Not sure if it would help, but if there is some toxic chemical in the soil, it might dilute it enough to save your plants.

Old concrete slab/hardcore under the soil? Maybe an old oil tank?

Very curious those leaves are dead at the top, yet healthy at the bottom (the first plant that reaches the top of the trellis.) Also, those white marks on the fence, are they anywhere else on the fence, or only there? Whilst your neighbour may have used a weed killer on their side, which has affected yours, the fact those leaves on the tall plant, are dead on the top only, makes me think there is something else going on. Watch your dog closely over the next week and see if that’s his/her favourite pee spot. I would also suggest you installing a camera to overlook that area to rule out anything else going on.
