I’ve managed to get rid of 90% of the green alkanet and nettles which had completely overgrown this area, I want to try and put down a clover lawn but I’m very new to this and have no idea how to start, what would be my first steps?

Pick up the branches, pull up the weeds and stone, then rake away the thatch so you have bare soil. The soil will need to be loose before you apply the seed then gently rake over to mix the loose soil with the seed. Water immediately and do so daily for the next 4 or so weeks.

Get rid of all the branches, stones, etc with a rake. then use an electric tiller/rotavator (Screwfix do a good one for £70). then rake and flatten it all out. Plant seed.

I did similar a few years back but didn’t have a tiller and it was back-breaking work using a spade.
