Simple to make and take apart for easy harvesting potatoes. Harvest demo and Step by step tutorial. The best portable long lasting raised bed that I’ve made so far. Ideal for small space gardening. I succession plant to get a consistent crop of the best tasting “new potatoes” throughout the season. The example I used are a small variety sold as “Baby potatoes”.

  1. Brilliant Gary! I receive large boxes from Chewy too. Now I can use them to plant the dogs and I our favorite purple spuds. <3, ~ Covah

  2. Awesome! I have the panels from several outdoor pet enclosures and have a couple of compost "baskets" made of 3 panels zip–tied together with cardboard around the inside for composting leaves, sticks and twigs that come down in the wind, year round. Have you tried potatoes in wood chips? Apparently they love just wood chips for some reason. I forget whose video that was…but thanks to you and Robbie both for sharing your makes – They're all brilliant and we really appreciate them!

  3. Oh! And you can wrap those dog enclosure panels in that plastic stretch wrap they have for wrapping pallets? Narrow plastic wrap on a roll with a handle? And then you can zip tie them together and you have a little greenhouse! Or a big greenhouse, depending on how many panels you use…
Have you seen thekiwigrower's tomato plants grafted to potato plants? I bet those would be awesome with some composting in place…

  4. Great Gary , how will it work on hard clay where water does not sink in but just rolls over the top of the clay. Nebraska 5B here. 😢

  5. Gary do you have problems with rolly plies hiding in the cardboard layers. Nebraska 5b

  6. That’s a great idea. My one question is how safe is that plastic with food plants? I know Robbie is very careful gi get plastic that is food safe.

  7. Gary, you are an excellent teacher! I love how you take your time to slowly explain each process. I appreciate your dedication to our garden community.

  8. Hi Gary! Great video on setting up bins for growing potatoes. Between you and Robbie, we are all so very blessed to learn and continue to gain skills & knowledge to keep our families nourished, thriving, and so happy to eat what we grow! Thank you both so much, love you both, God bless❤❤.

  10. Thanks, Gary.
I didn't have much luck with mine this year, so I think I'll give this a try! Could you tell me how deep down you plant your potatoe slips?

  14. Wow thats great idea. I've got lots of that wire given to me. Used what I intended, I've wanted to start potatoes, now I will. Question, where did you get your first starters at?

  15. These potatoes grow up, you need to plant the seed potatoes Four inches from the bottom
Sweet potatoes grow down so those are planted on the top of the Planter. Good luck
