  2. This morning I've been watching self watering beds I've been having problems keeping my raised garden beds watered last year I watched black gumbo video on building a David the good swamp water barrel so I looked up yours and since I had a major problem with weed especially out behind my fence and no matter how fast I pulled them they grew back I also had salvaged a rain barrel the neighbor threw out found out it had frozen and split the bottom just a 3 inch long crack couldn't even see it but the barrel after the rain was dry so I patched it and as you said put those weeds to good use and my harvest was about triple now I'm going to fix my raised beds I made them with some 2×4 foot containers someone threw out but I drilled some holes in the bottom to keep them drained so after watching all the videos on self watering beds when the ground thaws I'm going to take out the soil patch the holes and run a pipe up to fill them with water when I first made them I got cheap to cut down on the soil I needed I filled the bottom with tree trimmings and grass and old invoices I thought I was just being cheap but found out that it was hugle culture my original garden was 14 by 5 but my sister and I had a hard time reaching the center of the the bed so I empted it out put it in a sunny spot most of the the trimmings were gone all the grass and paper was gone so I remade it 2×28 ft long and raised the legs up so that it's now 32 inches to the top of the bed we could easily reach the center of the bed from both sides of the bed and with your swamp water grew a great crop I'm curious as to how much of the old trimmings are left and if there are any of the grass clippings and paper shred is left will add more trimmings paper shred and grass clippings and since I have my swamp water barrel I'll take out the leftover weeds and grass clippings from last year and put them in as well I'll

  3. Hydroponics man Cheech and Chong. Put some other smaller plants around stop evaporation might stop the mozzies getting to the water and make it inviting to frogs oh maybe chuck a $2 gold fish in there he will eat your mozzies and poop in the water

  4. I started putting our pots in a kiddie pool in the shade when we left in the summer. It helps a lot.

  5. VERY COOL totally random song written for this episode ! ! Could seriously listen to a couple more verses if you have time to add to it i would buy it ๐Ÿ‘“ and also what would you think about adding 4 inches or so of large stones (rocks ) in the bottom of the pots before adding soil ~ instead of blocking it up ? Just wondering ~ and that could be the second verse in the song as well ~ that song could "ROCK" ๐Ÿ‘

  6. I'm pretty sure this is the first time I watched through the credits on a youtube video. And just like at the movies there was a surprise ending.

  7. Hang on, do you sing in every video?! ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ˜„ooooo, now I have to go find out!๐Ÿ˜‚ I loved it! It brought a smile on my face. Thank you!

  8. You can also add some dish soap or shampoo. That breaks up the water surface and drowns the mosquito eggs and their larvae.

  9. now i want to use a kiddy pool as a self watering raised bed and find a way to have them soak be self watered. maybe barry two or three 5 gallon buckets under the pool with something to wick moisture into the bed, and not have the buckets fully under the kiddy pool so i can pull a stopper and refill the buckets?

  10. Awesome! ๐Ÿ‘ Confession time: I, for no particular reason, decided to by a kiddie pool while fiddling around at the hardware store one day (my kids are grown) and I used it to take baths in my backyard in the baking summer. Iโ€™m in the suburbs lol
I grew up a fair portion of my youth in the country, and often miss the freedoms afforded there. Now I do wear a bathing suit, but yaโ€™know, you shift things around to get to all the bits.
I sometimes wonder if Google was doing their peeping Tom flyover business on one of those days. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ Hey, serves them right for taking pictures of our yards without our permission.
Maybe if more of us streaked in our backyards theyโ€™d finally realize the big tech privacy issue is in dire need of some โœจrevisionsโœจ. ๐Ÿ‘€ ๐Ÿ“ธ ๐Ÿ‘ค
    Annd that got dark, sorry.
Anyhoo, Get a kiddie pool. They have so many uses, and capturing rain for the garden is just one of them.. ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿคซ ๐Ÿงผ ๐Ÿ›€

  11. This method works great in our zone 9b. I drill a hole a few inches up the side for drainage. I also compost around the edges with leaves or chop n drop for extra fertility or moisture retention. The blue pools are ugly but ive draped the edges with burlap at times. Thanks for teaching us another way DTG! ๐Ÿ•Š P. S. LOVE the butterfly netting solution !
