I started building my first paludarium and am having some issues with condensation on the glass. Since I am doing carniverous plants above the water I have a lid on so I can better regulate the humidity but this leads to quite a lot of condensation. Does anyone know of ways to mitigate this or am I pretty much stuck with it if I don’t want to do an open top design?

Also since this is my first attempt I would love some suggestions from anyone experienced on plants to use underwater that will remain fairly short as well as any cool critters to add in, I am thinking of primarily doing shrimp but am open to suggestions on frogs, crabs, etc.

I crack the lid on both sides of the front long side of the tank during the day and the glass stays dry all day. Humidity stays around 80. I close up one side at night and it gets up to 93% and they are wet. A small amount of air flow above the front long edge of the tank makes a big difference.

For plants, I am loving micro sword (Lilaeopsis brasiliensis), stays about 3” tall and spreads.
