Join me AND a mystery friend for a chat about all things garden related as we bridge the age old feud that is Welsh and English relations, finding the common enemy (the slug!)

Apologies for the audio (especially at the beginning). We were much louder than usual and the mics couldn’t handle it.

I’d like to thank Ben from the great YouTube channel @GrowVeg for visiting my garden. A true gentlemen, educator and most importantly, gardener. It was a lot of fun showing you around and filming with you.

I’d also like to thank my Patreons for your ongoing support, you really help make what I do possible.

  1. In my part of the U.S. we had a very long winter. Went right into summer. Started out semi-hot and dry and now, rain, rain, rain. And not just days of rain, but torrential downpours for days in a row. Hoping autumn will be a bit more in the middle of the two.

  2. Zone 8b Washington state, and the slugs, snails, and pillbugs are terrible this year. We mostly have the regular little grey beasts, and the occasional demon leopard slug (6 inches long is about typical), but we also have the Banana Slug where I am.

I burst out laughing when I saw the thumbnail, because it was 4 in the morning and I knew exactly who that was despite the blurring.

  3. Cheers to you both from Monterrey, Mexico! It's awesome to see you working together. Have a great week!

  4. Two of my four favorite UK garden guys. Now all we need is for Home Grown Veg to visit Charles Dowding.

  5. Oh my lettuce not start with all the garden puns 😂😂. Fabulous job on this it was excellent to see you both, happy gardening 👩‍🌾, Ali 🙏☔️🇨🇦

  6. Thanks for allowing us to hear/see your journey in gardening!
I ve learned so much from the two of you !
PS: Fahrenheit is not irrelevant…and Ben does a great job by translating measurements from uk to usa measurements! He amazed us!

  7. Love the surprise and most of us could recognize right away it was Ben. 😊. Yes, we’ve had weird weather in US. In Wisconsin we had Rain in January! Crazy! Then March weather in April and no rain from May to July 12th the day after I installed irrigation 😂. I couldn’t deal with the hose anymore. We still are about 4” behind on precip. And the other poor areas are extreme heat killing cactus, warming of oceans that are killing coral, cool down in NW and the deluge of rain on upper east coast. Then the smoke from CN fires. Giant hail, late frosts, tornadoes— It’s been a time for all and hurricane season is just starting.
We had tremendous wildlife pressure as we were the oasis during drought. The deer ate hostas which they never eat. Onions matured early, second round of potato beetles and without a lot of mulch, shade fabric, fencing and Watering I’d have northing.
All I can say is those veggies better taste dang good as it’s been work!🎉

  8. Interesting conversation but don’t know who this is! I’m in the States (originally California and now Vermont) and long-time follower of Huw, Charles and Liz. GrowVeg isn’t too informative about this amazing gardener unless I watch videos. Guess that’s in the future!

  9. Easy way for roughly calculating C toF temps: multiply the C temp by 2 and add 30. That’s how Australia was taught when we converted a few decades ago. So 17C = 64F. The exact conversion is 62.6C

  10. Even pixilated, his identity was obvious to fans 😁 24C would be my perfect garden working temperature.
