I would say a successful first try on building a paludarium. Currently only isopods and springtails, animals will come shortly. There is one thing that bothers me: the substrate sits on leca, with a layer of weed fleece and a layer of charcoal, approx. 3 cm above the water line and after only one misting (automatic misting system, 20 seconds), it became extremely soggy and is proper wet for 4 days now. As far as I understand the leca pulls up the moisture, which is probably the culprit, but the question is: is this normal, or do I have to worry? (I mean paludarium does come from the word swamp, so maybe I’m just overthinking it) Thanks for any help in advance

Depends on your plants. But i would try it out. If it doesnt work out, maybe change to plants, which are more tolerant to waterlogging.
Swamp plants (alle the semiemersed aquarium plants eg) are best suited for that kind of environment. But if it the soil doenst get to depleted of oxygen other plants may also work out. Keep me updated how it works out!
