Hey everyone – Manitoba here (east shore or Lake Winnipeg), fungus (or soemthing) all over our Hawthorne – planted last year, fungus showed up this year.

Can anyone tell me
What this is? Can be treated? Is it local or did it come with the tree? Any input would be appreciated!

    Looks like a mealybug infestation rather than a fungus. Just as annoying as hard to get rid of as aphids. Try neem oil or insecticidal soap.

    To knock them down quickly use soapy water and a soft brush and scrub them off. Then hose the plant with water. Gross but it works.
