  1. Great job on the tomatoes Ivan. As my budget only allows a mini plastic greenhouse, would it still be ok if I were to cut the tomato plant at 4 feet tall? TIA

  2. How many leaves and branches is it safe to remove? How much needs to be left to feed the plant? Congrats on the cheer tomatoes!

  3. Nice harvest!

I support my upright canes by tying additional horizontal canes to link together the upright canes into a rigid support frame. The horizontal canes are then tied back to rings set into the wooden framed greenhouse I have here. Tie strings at each end of the frame are set at an angle to stop the frame from rocking from end to end. As well as providing support it keeps the uprights apart. I do this before I plant out my tomato plants, but you might still be able to add some horizontals from what I can see. As you have a metal frame in your greenhouse I guess it will be more difficult to do, but as you mention that you are able to tie your individual canes to brackets I expect you could do something similar.

I don't hesitate to remove any suckers that I've missed, however long they have grown and whether or not they are bearing fruit.

I'm growing Moneymaker and Ailsa Craig tomatoes this year. The Moneymakers are only just starting to ripen, but we've been eating Ailsa Craigs for more than a week now. Both are bearing a heavy crop. My wife has ordered more Ailsas from me next year!

  4. Oh yes…pruning, pruning and more pruning. lol Always pinning up and pruning. This year, because of the rat issue, I'm having to harvest any tomatoes that have the slightest blush beginning. Second year in a row not to have vine-ripened tomatoes. Last year I got 1 tomato out of 7 or more plants, which brought me to tears as I was hospitalized for a week and still managed to keep them healthy. This year I decided better to harvest when blushing that not have any at all. No more Mrs. Nice Guy…it's killing time for the rats.

  5. Sweet cherry pie lvans live in Bulgaria lot hotter over here 32 c today not sure if that makes
Different super hot over here !!! Anyway thanks angin lvan ❤🍒😁

  6. Well you certainly gave those tomato plants a good trim up thay are looking a lot better now. Must admit I love cherry tomatoes. Thanks for the video 📹 Iven. Tim 😊

  7. I have had to cut the leaves on my Tomatoes two times in the last month. Loads of Toms but maybe only 10 percent of the crop are red because of this poor July.

  8. Photosynthesis will only work for half the plant if its cut away. Less Photosynthesis less tasty tomatoes. Tomatoes also need some shade otherwise you will end up with thicker skinned tomatoes. Prune yes but dont over prune no need from my experiance.

  9. I've just paused your video Ivan and been up to my greenhouse and trimmed my toms right back. Your videos are so informative, alway a good watch🍅🍅

  10. That is impressive. Also growing tomatoes outdoors but seeing no signs of ripening. In the Midlands so we pretty much got same climate. Quite jealous 😄
Decided to take off 1 truss. Not getting any bigger so will try ripening them indoors.

    👍 for the vid.

  11. Ivan, what a fantastic harvest, so many tomatoes. It's really interesting to see how you prune your tomatoes. Thank you for sharing this with us. Paul

  12. Thanks Ivan, for this great informative vlog and that is a grand harvest of cherry toms. Take care and all the best. Stevie
