Very needed👏👏
I also have wood chips in my garden and last year I had a problem with slugs. Another gardener suggested trying a product called Sluggo for snails and slugs. It comes in a pellet form. It really did the job. You just lightly sprinkle it around the plants being attacked. So far this there has not been a problem with slugs. Hopes this helps.
I’m in the Venersborg area of BG, so same general area as you. Slugs destroyed many of my seedings. I bought cheap beer and made beer traps. The slug damage killed all my eggplants and stunted my first batch of broccoli. BAD year for slugs. New for me this year are turnip/mustard/collard greens, leeks, carrots and red unions. I have my fingers crossed that the slug problem is over but I did buy a 12 pack of that cheap beer so I am ready for their next attack.
Dont use wood chips! Use straw. Crushed egg shells
I use a product called "Deadline". It is a liquid that dries hard similar to elmers glue, but black. You only need 1 drop about every 6". I put it on boards or rocks but you can put it on the soil also.
Fun note: You can put a drop 6" behind a slug that is happily munching on something and it will litterally turn around and head for the deadline! They love it!
Beer traps work also.
We are a ways north of Seattle so the slug pressure is monsterous! But they can be controlled!
Subscribe thank you
Love the tour, thank you 😊
TIP FOR SLUGS. Keep your egg shells, let them dry then crumble them in your hand, not too fine, put the shells around your plants. The shells cut the snails bodies and they won't come back. Works amazing. *put enough eggs shells around so you can easily visually see it.
I may be your almost neighbor! I live in Longview.
Make a pesto with spicy urugala with walnuts and honey to tone done or infuse olive oil ,just a thought but if the chickens like it yummy 😋 , I love kale and always love going through your garden with you.
I use a small cup of beer or NA beer for precious slugs, they crawl in and some people don’t like but better than salting them. Mom used to send us out with salt shakers we lived in western Washington . A abundance of slugs.
Back then mom was trying to survive not save a slug. God bless and love your videos
I'm watching all the garden tours from the PNW since I live in Bremerton. Last year, I grew tomatoes, Brussels sprouts and mini pepper. Didn't get a whole lot of peppers but got a ton of Brussels sprouts and a few tomatoes. This year I am REALLY into wanting to do more, so I am checking out what PNW gardeners have in their gardens. Thank you so much for the tour!
👍👍👍
What type of artichokes are you growing? I can't seem to get mine to survive in spokane.
I have read that crushed egg shells will cut the slugs and snails and cause them to die.
Just crush them up and let it mix into the wood chips and soil
Very nice gardens! Great job.
Super job!!
Eggshells for slugs 😎
