I’m quite surprised at the recovery of this Maranta leuconeura ‘Silver Band’ – every leaf you are seeing now is brand new. Around the start of the winter, there was a steady decline until there were no leaves left. I was about to discard the seemingly empty pot but, upon closer inspection, I noticed some new leaf buds emerging from the soil.

2️⃣ A healthy leaf backside.

3️⃣ A thrips infected leaf. I just kill them when I see them. If I notice many leaves like this, then I’ll spray the entire plant (focusing on the underside of the leaves) with a neem oil + water mixture. I really consider this just managing the infestation. Thrips are very difficult to completely eradicate.

4️⃣ The plant lives right up in front of my west facing window (widest possible view of the sky for best indirect light). Direct sun occurs for not more than 2-3 hours – probably why the leaf pattern is nicely defined but also why I need to be vigilant with watering.
