Wax leaf ligustrum is our a great hedge for your fence and property lines. However, you want to be very selective with where are you plant them due to the attraction of these!

  1. My husband went to change into his work jeans. The jean legs were resting on the floor. When he put his foot in I heard a yell. I ran in and found him staring at a 8" Red Head Centipede. For those that don't know, each leg stings. Fortunately, his reflexes were good and he avoided them.😳😬 We've had more scorpions in the house since our triple digit heat wave. We're having our exterminator out tomorrow. I also Prep Terro Scorpion spray. If there's a future supply chain collapse I'm not sharing my house with these critters. 😡 Ticks have been bad this year too. We've put back diatomaceous earth DE, sulfur powder, dawn, and lots of insect repellents for us and the animals. Y'all it's not just about prepping food!
    Thanks Jill for the information.

  2. We lost all our wax leaf Ligustrum a few years ago in the Valentine's freeze. Hadn't noticed it, but now that you've said something, we don't have flies around them anymore! Blessings

  3. I've got hundreds of flies …. and dozens in the house, because they congregate at the door just waiting to get in.

I use those sticky strips for flies in the house and just this afternoon, got 64 of the suckers. They do this every year around this time. Last year I got a fly trap bag and hung it AWAY from the house and got at least a thousand one month. The reason you put it away from the house is the smell. Last year the smell was so bad, a turkey buzzard landed on the fence post in the back yard, thinking something big had died.

But at least I didn't have flies. And I didn't see any bees in the trap.

  4. Jill, I always wondered why are there so many bees 🐝 and didn't realize that the Legustrums attract them. You have opened my eyes 👀 Another awesome video ❤❤❤❤❤ God bless you ☝️ 🙏🏻

  5. Could you hand the fly trap bags around your gathering area? Or even fly tape? We have the thermo cell battery powered bug repellers on our porch that seem to really help.

  6. Hang fly paper or put up a bug zapper on the porch❤…citronella candles too…also bug stop spray around the house won't travel over to the gardens if you watch the wind….yes and trim back every year so they don't bloom…they will get dense and just have leaves.

  7. I live north of Fort Worth and I have had more flies than ever around outside! I wonder what is causing that this year. Thanks for the video.😊
Btw, I have a bug zapper inside the house and it has zapped more flies than ever also.

  8. Australia and New Zealand have banned it, it’s an invasive species and one of the most allergenic plants known to man. Destroy it all

  9. Every year we battle the flies in the high desert. The hotter the weather the more flies!!! ❤❤

  10. Oh i don't know. I don't have these and flies are horrible here in Royse City right now. Somehow they are getting in my house. i have sticky traps and am trapping at least 100 a day

  11. Fly's have been very bad this year I had to get some traps never in my 22 years in this home have I had to do this I am south of Atlanta

  12. Do you like using totes for container growing better than using grow bags? Maybe a short explanation why? New to your channel.
